Hello from the Other Side!

DEAR READER! Hello!

It’s been a little over 4 weeks since my last post but it feels like it’s been YEARS!

There has been SO MUCH going on these last few weeks since the move, that I feel like I’ve finally just been able to come up for air.

So where am I up to now?

We’re In!

That’s right – you read it right. We’re IN!!!

I’m currently writing to you from a pop-up camping table and chair in the middle of what eventually will be my new home office, looking out into the building site we now call home. Most days it is chaos, there is constant dust, dirt, endless noise and work going on around us, but we’re in, and it is home. And oh my god, what a wonderful feeling it is!!!

I thought I would use this opportunity to reflect on the last month or so, as the mixture of emotions I felt in the run-up to the move was incomparable to anything I’ve ever experienced – and yes, that includes my wedding!

As I re-read my last post just before writing this, I was astounded by how quickly I have forgotten the pre-move stress. If I am being completely honest, the run-up to the move was without a shadow of a doubt, the most stressful part of this entire experience, and that includes moving day! I feel like there is SO much to reflect on with the entire process, so those of you who said you’re sad I’ve now moved and the series is over, don’t worry – you’re not getting rid of me that easy!

The series will be coming to an end once I’ve shared some of the things I’ve learned/been reflecting on but I have to say, all of the concerns I shared in the posts Cold Feet, Packing Up The House and The Final Countdown have so far dissipated or not been present at all since we moved. The move hasn’t been without its negative emotions, but I am feeling calmer and more at peace here than I have felt in a long time, which was unexpected, but lovely.

Our new house is absolutely WONDERFUL, and whilst we are living amidst chaos, and there has been a whole host of issues discovered by the snagger (separate post incoming!!), it is wonderful. Don’t get me wrong, I am going OUT OF MY MIND living in dust and still not having flooring/carpets upstairs (so still unable to unpack most of our belongings), but we are making slow but sure progress in turning the building site into a home.

I have been documenting the whole thing on my Instagram stories, which I update more regularly than the blog! So if you’re interested, there’s a highlight reel on my profile you can check out by clicking here but over the next few posts, I’ll be sharing more of our experience plus a few things to keep in mind when buying a new build!

I’ll see you in my next post where I’ll be sharing my experience of the moving day!
